The International Criminal Court publishes a circular on the arrest of Saif Al-Islam Gaddafi

On Sunday, the International Criminal Court asked all countries to cooperate with it to arrest presidential candidate Saif al-Islam Gaddafi, who is still at large, in order to appear before it, on suspicion of crimes against humanity.

A month ago, Saif al-Islam Gaddafi submitted papers to run for the presidential elections in his country after years of political work in secret, but the High Elections Commission, which manages the electoral process in Libya, excluded him from the initial list of candidates on the pretext that he did not meet the conditions for candidacy, before the Sebha court ruled And finally by returning him to the presidential race, after accepting his appeal.

But the International Criminal Court says that Gaddafi’s son is still wanted by it, in order to try him on charges of “crimes against humanity”, during an attempt to suppress protests against his father’s regime, in 2011, and confirms that the arrest warrant issued against him is still valid until Now, his legal status will not change.

The Libyan political circles are in a state of controversy in the wake of the appearance of Saif Gaddafi, son of the late Libyan leader, and his candidacy and acceptance in the presidential race, as well as his leadership in opinion polls as the most likely candidate to win the presidency. The country announced its boycott of the elections and its readiness to prevent them from taking place
