With a “Booster Dose”… Moderna announces the first steps to confront “Omicron”

The American company “Moderna” announced that it will develop a booster dose against the new Corona virus “Omicron”, which first appeared in South Africa.

Moderna said that this is one of 3 strategies the company is working on to counter the new threat, including a higher dose of its currently used vaccine.

The company’s president, Stephan Bancel , added , “The variables in the Omicron mutant are worrying, and for days we have been moving as quickly as possible to implement our strategy to confront this mutant,” according to Agence France-Presse.

An advisory committee of the World Health Organization classified the mutated, as a “highly contagious virus of concern”, and named it ” Omicron “.

This announcement, issued by the United Nations Health Organization, on Friday, is the first classification in months that the organization has done for one of the Corona mutants in this way.

Earlier Friday, the 27-nation European Union announced a temporary ban on arrivals from South Africa .

Arab countries, namely the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan and Morocco, have also imposed restrictions on arrivals from South Africa and other countries on the African continent, in an effort to curb the spread of the new mutant
