Qatari security arrested two journalists working for Norwegian state television and held them for more than 30 hours, before allowing them to return home.
And the “NRK” television network stated that the Qatari government did not immediately respond to a request to comment on the arrest of Halvor Ekeland and Luqman Ghorbani, who were in Qatar covering reports on the upcoming soccer World Cup.
The journalists were said to have been arrested after they reported live on the living conditions of expatriate workers.
The two journalists told the Norwegian television network that they were not allowed to leave with their equipment.
The Norwegian Journalists’ Union criticized the arrest of the journalists.
