A priest in the Far East of Russia has been sentenced to 18 years in prison for seducing 53 boys since 2007, the RIA Novosti news agency quoted the regional prosecutor’s office as saying on Monday.

The monk Priest Spyridon (Yuri Abramov) was arrested at the end of 2019 after a local resident informed the Russian Investigative Committee that there were suspicions about the head of the Church of the Prophet Elijah in the village of Amorst in the Jewish Autonomous Region.

After the priest’s arrest, a group of materials “far from spiritual purposes” were found during a search of his home, according to the source.

The investigation also discovered that the priest’s assistant, the ringer Sergey Moss, participated in the seduction of children, and the court sentenced him to 12 years in prison.
