US President Joe Biden praised the approval of the health authorities in the United States to start vaccinating children between 5 and 11 years, stressing the critical importance of this step for efforts to combat the outbreak of infection.
Biden commented, in a statement issued yesterday, Tuesday, on the authorization to “administer a safe and effective vaccine” to children of the mentioned age in the United States, saying: “Today we have reached a turning point in our battle against Covid-19.”
The President stressed that this decision represents “a major step for our country in our battle to defeat the virus,” noting that it ends the concerns of adult citizens about the health of their children and limits the spread of the epidemic among children.
Biden pointed out that his administration has worked diligently in recent weeks to launch this campaign and is ready to act now, explaining that the authorities had secured enough vaccine for every child in the United States, and as of the end of last week began mobilizing and distributing millions of doses for children among thousands locations across the country.
The president stressed that this program will expand in the coming days and will be fully operational within a week, starting from the eighth of November, stressing that vaccinating children at the age of 5-11 years will allow the American authorities to develop the “exceptional progress” they have made during the last nine months, as More than 78 percent of Americans over the age of 12 have received at least one dose of the vaccine.
