Biden apologizes to the international community for Trump’s decision

US President Joe Biden has apologized to the international community for the decision of his predecessor, Donald Trump, to withdraw the United States from the Paris climate agreement.

“I think I shouldn’t make an apology, but I do apologize for the decision to withdraw the United States from the Paris Agreement under the previous administration,” Biden said, in a speech today, Tuesday, at the 26th United Nations Conference of Parties to the Framework Convention on Climate Change in Glasgow, Scotland.

He pointed out, however, that broad ranks of the American people did not believe 4 or 5 years ago that climate changes had occurred, but now they understand the urgent need to deal with this problem.

Republican Trump, during his tenure as US President in 2017, announced the withdrawal of the United States from the Paris climate agreement, but his successor, Democrat Biden, signed in 2020 a decree stipulating the return of his country to the list of countries party to the document.
