China calls US report on coronavirus origin ‘unscientific’

Liu Bingyu, a spokesman for the Chinese Embassy in the United States, described the US report on the origins of the coronavirus as “unscientific”.

According to the “South China Morning Post,” the spokesperson said, “No matter how many times it is updated, the so-called ‘assessment of the origin of Covid-19’ published by the US intelligence headquarters is completely unscientific. It would only undermine scientific research on the origin and interfere with global efforts to find its source.

On the other hand, the spokesman pointed to the fact that the United States refuses to respond to the suspicions of the international community about the military laboratory in Fort Detrick and more than 200 foreign bases for biological experiments. Therefore, the American side is trying to hide the truth and avoid responsibility.

This comes after a report from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence issued on Friday, in which it dealt with an assessment of the US intelligence services “declassified” regarding the origin of Covid-19.

The evaluation concluded that the coronavirus was not synthesized as a biological weapon.

The full report indicated that the Wuhan Institute of Virology “previously created clusters of SARS-like coronaviruses, but the available information does not provide insight into whether SARS Cov-2 was genetically engineered by the said institute.”

The report indicated that four US intelligence agencies said with “low confidence” that the virus was initially transmitted from an animal to a human, while a fifth intelligence agency saw with “medium confidence” that the first human infection was linked to a laboratory.
