The United States issues the first passport for gay and bisexual

US State Department spokesman Ned Price announced that the department has revealed the first US passport issued with an “X” seal for gay and bisexual people, which will be available to all applicants starting in 2022.

He said, “The State Department has issued the first US passport with an ‘X’ gender stamp… We look forward to providing it to anyone who applies for a passport once the required system is completed and the form updated in early 2022.”

He added: “The passport will be for gay, bisexual and non-conforming people who apply for a US passport or birth documents for those born outside the United States.”

According to him, “the department continues to work closely with other US government agencies to ensure the most comfortable travel for all passport holders, regardless of their gender.”
