One person was killed and seven others were injured in a shooting at a party near Fort Valley State University in the US state of Georgia.
The Georgia State Bureau of Investigation said that the dead man was not a university student, and that all seven injured were in stable condition.
“Campus police have received reports of a shooting and that university students who attended the off-campus party sustained non-life-threatening injuries,” said university spokesman Michael Clark McCurry.
The university administration closed the campus temporarily after the shooting, and reopened it after the campus police decided that “there is no threat to the students.”
And local media reported that Beach County Coroner Kerry Rocks identified the dead man as Tyler French, 27, a Byron resident.
