The official Korean Central News Agency reported on Wednesday that Pyongyang successfully tested a ballistic missile launched from a submarine on Tuesday.
The South Korean Armed Forces Joint Authority had said that the ballistic missile launched by North Korea on Tuesday had a range of between 430 and 450 km.
The North Korean military said the ballistic missile launched this morning is short-range, and was launched from a submarine, Yonhap news agency reported.
For its part, the US Army’s Indo-Pacific Command said it considers North Korea’s missile launch a destabilizing act, but not an immediate threat to the United States or its allies.
Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida also cut short his work trip to the country’s regions and decided to return to Tokyo, against the background of North Korea’s launch of the new ballistic missile.
