Outgoing German Chancellor Angela Merkel arrived at Huber Palace in Istanbul, Turkey, to meet President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, on a farewell visit.
Anadolu Agency reported that Erdogan and Merkel rode a golf car and headed to the seaside side of the palace. He added that they stood next to the flags of Turkey and Germany, then greeted the journalists waiting in the place, and then moved to the palace for a bilateral meeting.
Earlier, a statement by the Turkish Presidency Communication Department said that the two sides will discuss bilateral relations and the necessary steps to develop cooperation between the two countries.
The statement added that Erdogan and Merkel will discuss, in their meeting, Turkish-European relations, regional and international developments, foremost of which are the situations in Libya, Syria and Afghanistan.
